Have questions? Need insight?
I help find clarity and resonance by removing the filters blocking clear insight to sustainable, long term coping. I blend the knowledge from my College education with the wisdom I gleaned from the application of that knowledge in real life.
As I've always seen it, KNOWLEDGE+EXPERIENCE=WISDOM
My focus in College was Psychology but I made a study of cultural anthropology as well, among other things. Perhaps it's just the way I learn but I got a lot more from practical application in real life, with real people and in real scenarios. I find it's more effective to offer insight effective for a person to figure out what coping is to them and start from there rather than make them dependent on me or on unnecessary drugs just to perpetually keep validating their illness. Well, perhaps my method isn't more effective if I want to line my pockets, but that's never been my intent in the first place, I wanted to help foster kids and orphans in an over-loaded system.
It was also abundantly clear I had a knack for it, even from a young age.
I take the "Health" in the term "Mental Health" very seriously. As with the physical body, you must do the actual work; not for follows, not for thirst traps, not for clout, and not for one perfect shot. I don't abide fakery, there are far too many self proclaimed 'gurus' out there making promises they'll never deliver on because there's no money in it.
Currently, we have an influx of young people taking psychology classes despite having complicated mental health disorders of their own. The requirement to be a psychologist or psychiatrist has become to be in dire need of one, it's like the blind leading the blind.
My method is meant to find ways to get better rather than maintain illness while taking into account that everyone is different, sometimes there's no boxes to check, just some self awareness to be had.
The corner office with a nice view and a comfortable settee with plumped pillows is exactly where some people need to go for their therapy, and I'm happy they have a place to go. Not everyone comes from that world though. Someone once said, "Therapy is for people with more money than problems," in an old movie. To be clear, I live in the United States and I do take into account that everyone in this entire country has American Privilege, that's facts.
For some people a different approach must be explored. Not everyone came up with safe spaces and attendance awards. I speak to them, not everyone out there has family who will stand up for them. I speak to the abandoned and to the black sheep.
I'm your Huckleberry.
GUIDELINES
If a disproportional amount of your identity is wrapped up entirely in your mental illness even as it perpetuates it, I can NOT or maybe WILL NOT waste my time trying to help you, there are hundreds who can though, go see them, have your credit card number memorized, it'll make it easier.
I am the fringe. I'm true grit. I'm a walking, talking example of book educated and street smart in harmony.
I'm here for the abandoned, the thrown away, the people who wouldn't ask for help even if they knew anyone who cared enough to try. I'm here for the people who aren't looking for a designer disease to share a TikTok "journey" about. I'm here for the people at the end of their tether because they've been quietly holding it together for everyone else who can't grasp what real trauma even is.
I'm not here for people who want to maintain their mental illness, I'm here for people who want to maintain their mental health.
I'm not here to diminish anyone's experience or coping methods, I'm just pointing out that what works for some, might not work for others, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I can't sell you a method because everyone's method is different, my niche is helping people figure out their own method.
The thing is, I'm not selling anything, another thing that marks my method as different is that it's foundation is based in objective rather than subjective truth.
"It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has."
~Attributed to Hippocrates (460-377 B.C.)
My technique isn't about maintaining mental health breakdowns, it's about turning them into mental health breakthroughs.

REMEMBER: People who think they have nothing left to learn, are left to learn nothing.
It's an honor, indeed a privilege, to read the questions and insight I get from everyone. It's been amazing to have been a part of varied projects and people's lives over the course of many years, coast to coast and back again. It's also genuinely satisfying to hear back from people who were able to find their way to overcoming something that they previously felt paralyzed by. People are amazing and stronger than they've been taught to believe, especially when they CHOOSE it. When they do, it's empowerment, and that isn't temporary, it's sustainable.
